The deadline for submissions is April 4, 2024 at 4PM ET. The award provides unrestricted budget-based project grants, professional development services, and community-building opportunities. The grants are awarded through a democratic, national, open call process with the goal of funding artists who create challenging, risk-taking, and innovative projects. The application process requires artists to choose a primary discipline for their proposal, but acknowledges that radical art often blurs disciplinary boundaries.

Jazz Road Tours by South Arts

South Arts is a regional nonprofit that supports artists and organizations with programming and resources predominantly in the southern US region or other rural areas. Through the Jazz Road Tours program, they offer grants of up to $15,000 to musicians to support/develop road tours in communities across the country. Specifically, in each cycle, they support “small, three- to six-site tours at an array of venue types, often in rural communities and other areas traditionally underserved by the genre.” They have multiple grant cycles depending on when tours may take place. Harpo Foundation Grants for Visual & Native American Artists

Visual artists are invited to apply for $10,000 grants from the Harpo Foundation, which aims to support under-recognized artists 21 years or older. “Applications are evaluated on the basis of the quality of the artist’s work, the potential to expand aesthetic inquiry, and the ability to fulfill the foundation’s priority to provide support to visual artists who are under-recognized by the field.” Also, starting in 2024, the Foundation will offer an annual $25,000 impact award fellowship “to amplify the contributions of under-recognized Native American contemporary visual artists. Gaylord & Dorothy Donnelley Foundation Grant Program

This Chicago Region program offers grants for Artistic Vitality with a maximum grant size of $13,500. The application process is rolling, with the application closing on March 29, 2024. The foundation provides general operations grants and various forms of support to help art partners sustain their artistry and strengthen their operations. New applicants are required to have their work reviewed by foundation staff before beginning the application process. Potential grantees for the Chicago Artistic Vitality program should send an introductory email to Abigail Madden, — Associate Program Officer, with their intent to apply, any questions they may have about the application, and dates of upcoming performances, shows, or exhibits.
